Everyone talks about how hot the desert is in the summer, but no one ever talks about how cold it gets in the winter. Sweater weather is upon us and I’m seriously loving it.
I tend to opt for more of the chunky knit sweaters. They always just look super cozy and casual. My favorite winter look is a chunky sweater tucked into skinny jeans or slim leather pants.I think it gives your look a nice contract between soft and a little edgy.
I bought my super cozy sweater from AllSaints last year and I love it. I tucked it into lace-up high waisted jeans from Rag & Bone and my all-time favorite dagger pendant from Great Frog.
The thing I love most about the holidays is getting to dress up. For most of the year, I don’t really have too many excuses to put on a nice dress, but during the holidays, the evening wear comes out.
I actually bought this dress last year but didn’t really get a chance to wear it. I love the sleeves, open back (hello back tattoos), and bronze color. Metallics are always a solid look for the holidays and I think it gives a little edge to a nice dress.
This year, my holiday look consists of this gorgeous bronze maxi dress, a envelope-style clutch, and black strappy heels. My envelope clutch is my go-to for pretty much all of my evening looks. I loved the heels because they were fairly light and dainty, but still had a pretty sturdy heel. While I’m used to wearing shoes with heels pretty regularly, I feel like a baby deer learning how to walk in stilettos.
I really used this opportunity to play with my makeup. I opted for a smokey gold/bronze eye using the Shade + Light Glimmer eyeshadow palette from Kat Von D. I also used the Metal Crush highlighter by Kat Von D because of the gold glitter in it. For my lips I topped the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick by Kat Von D in the color Plath with the new Lip Plumper gloss by Urban Decay in the color Honey. It added a glossy shine and gold glimmer to the otherwise matte lipstick. All of the cosmetics used in this look are vegan and cruelty free.
This is honestly the best time of year to break out the velvet. With the holiday parties and New Years coming up, there are tons of excuses to update your velvet wardrobe. Even if you don’t have the budget to overhaul your wardrobe with velvet this season, a few new key velvet pieces can transform your everyday basics into something a little more festive.
I bought this gorgeous emerald velvet coat from The Kooples last year and it’s still my favorite cold-weather piece. It totally transformed my cami’s, skinny jeans, and boots that I wear every day into some a little different. Plus the emerald green is drop dead gorgeous.
